It’s National Sibling Day! Let’s take a moment to honor the brave, brainy and beautiful Mills sisters.

1.  They overcome obstacles. Despite an absentee father, a seemingly insane mother and growing up in the foster care system, the sisters found their way. Abbie, who got involved in drugs and crime as a youth, jumped on an opportunity to turn her life around and become a success. Though she was wrongfully and repeatedly committed to psychiatric hospitals, Jenny’s spirit wasn’t broken.
2. They can put the past behind them Despite years of estrangement, the Mills sisters were able to talk it out and hug it out. Abbie rightly considered her role in the rift. To be honest, keeping mum about a horned demon was the prudent decision and she did try to warn Jenny not to overshare, but at least she recognized that Jenny got a raw deal. When she was in a position to do so, Abbie helped to secure her sister an early release from Tarrytown Psychiatric. After a thorny reunion, it didn’t take long for Jenny overcome resent  and she has Abbie’s back.
3. They understand teamwork The Mills sisters work well together. When Ichabod was about to make the ultimate sacrifice in order prevent the Apocalypse, Jenny was the one who led Abbie to the Sin Eater. They also joined forces and uncovered how the murderous Gina Lambert played a role in their mother’s suicide.
4. They are highly skilled Abbie is a quick learner and knows how to MacGyver her way out of a situation. In order to defeat a powerful warlock, Abbie figured out how to simulate the elements with the use of a generator, possibly a fire hose. Jenny has the knowledge about rare artifacts, supernatural beings, and street smarts.
5. They are BAMFs As Ichabod pointed out, Jenny is a freedom fighter. Her achievements include “learning weapons and demo training in Mexico.” and she “sent a drug czar home in a box.” When Abbie saw a neglected little girl, she issued this threat to the delinquent foster-mother: “I will rain legal brimstone down on you so hard it will make God jealous.”
6. They are not damsels in distress  Ichabod and even Jenny’s shady ex-boyfriend Hawley have certainly  helped to get the sisters out of some tight jams, but the Abbie and Jenny are no shrinking violets and have also rescued their partners. When held captive by heavily armed men, Jenny was able to shoot her way to freedom with an assist from Ichabod who came crashing in with an ambulance. To save Ichabod’s life, Abbie ended up in 1781, not the best time for her from a demographic standpoint, but she handled it. When a massive man with a weapon cornered the petite Abbie, she warned him: “There have been a lot of developments in close quarter combat,” he didn’t listen and an epic ass-beating, including an appropriate chokehold ensued.

Thank goodness the Sleepy Hollow has been renewed for a third season so we can look forward to more Team Mills awesomeness.
