If there’s one thing that makes Ichabod Crane more baffled than waking up in the 21st century, it’s suddenly finding himself in 1781 again. Or stumbling into a Revolutionary War reenactment and discovering that this is how history buffs, such as a woman named Caroline, amuse themselves. On the upside, he finds clothing it looks exactly like his old clothing, but it’s fresh. How does he pay for it? Nobody knows. He’s a damn sexy hobo.

Abbie’s at home. Wait, what? The only time I remember seeing her at home was that brief scene in Episode Three. Abbie’s place looks roomy. There is an open kitchen, marble counter tops. She seems to favor neutrals—and mayonnaise judging by that jar on the counter. My OCD side thinks that jar belongs in the refrigerator, but maybe she hasn’t opened it yet so it’s safe to eat. Don’t play around with food poisoning.

Them evil forces are busy. Moloch put Ichabod Crane on notice, the beast warned that he will take Lieutenant Abbie Mills’ soul and Ichabod will be the one to give it to him. Captain Irving’s daughter Macey has been targeted by a body-jumping demon who inhabited the body of a man and a woman in the park. You do not mess with Frank Irving.

Ichabod Crane wants to reunite with wife Katrina, who has been uploaded to the cloud. Mrs. Crane is given to brief, cryptic messages, so saving her would be easier if she told him more. That’s just Katrina; she keeps things — such as being a witch —to herself. The Cranes have communication issues.

The Headless Horseman is back in Sleepy Hollow and he’s raising hell, so to speak.The episode is filled with references about how Paul Revere’s Midnight Ride figured into the equation and some plotline about an important password “Cicero,” which will shed light on how to defeat the Horseman. It all seems significant at the time, but the only thing you really need to know is that Ichabod and Abbie crack the code and figure out the Horseman’s vulnerability. Now let’s focus on how Lieutenant Abigail Mills is pint-sized perfection and how all the boys love her.
