Empire‘s two-hour season finale hurtled toward a jam-packed conclusion last night. The series is known for excess, so why not take things over-the-top? Where to begin? There was new game-changing information that shakes up the premise of the show.

Jamal, Andre and Hakeem all behaved out-of-character, or at least showed us new sides. We’re supposed to believe that Hakeem is familiar with Machiavelli. I guess Camilla read him bedtime stories before tucking him in. Andre’s lost his appetite for backstabbing and found a higher purpose (it lasted for about five minutes, but brownie points for trying.) It turns out that sweet, sensitive Jamal can go gangster real quick.

Cookie’s still the baddest bitch on the block, but the other ladies are no slackers. Rhonda has killer instinct, and I mean that quite literally. Boo Boo Kitty can only take so much and do you not want to break her strand of pearls.
