6 Thoughts on Empire: “Sinned Against” — Nov. 25, 2015

Cookie in a red fur coat on Empire

We learned so much about the world of the world of the Lyons on last night’s Empire.

  1. Cookie Lyon hates MuppetsCookie heartlessly slaughtered Elmo and nobody cares; that’s the only excuse for her red coat. (Don’t tell anybody but I love that coat.)
  2. Your bunny is probably safe around Boo Boo Kitty. My beloved Boo-Boo Kitty is a lousy stalker. Did you notice the Google map with Laura’s address? Anika probably doesn’t go up to the South Bronx all that much, but she should have GPS. When is the last time you printed out a map?
  3. Jamal Lyon is slick. Jussie Smollett (Jamal) and guest star Alicia Keys (Skye) are adorable together I don’t expect the romance to last but it was fun to watch Jamal swoon over the singer and his flirting game is strong. Jamal got up from the piano and danced his way over for some nuzzling and a kiss. Jamal may be gay, but he is also a ladies’ man.
  4. Rhonda has Lucious Lyon on  her “pay no mind” list.  Lucious is so excited about the baby Rhonda and Andre are having that he bought a mansion for them. He was going on about the next generation and who will carry on the legacy blah, blah, blah, but he changes his tune every week so there is no point in listening. Rhonda’s only response to her fickle father-in-law was “Mmm hmm.” Then she sailed off to check out the square footage.
  5. Hakeem Lyon is smart. Whaaat? Hakeem is officially the most sensible Lyon right now. I can’t believe I wrote those words, but it’s true. Lucious publicly demeaned his son last week, calling him a bitch etc. Hakeem dropped the family name and is just going by his first name now. Lucious actually had the nerve to summon Hakeem and ask him to take back his last name. Hakeem doesn’t have time for his father’s foolishness and just walked away. I’d like to think he’s hanging out with Rhonda talking about how crazy Papa Lyon is.
  6. Cookie won’t let anyone else have a dead muppet. It’s good that she rescued her sister, Carol, who was on a crack binge, but she didn’t bother to help Carol clean up. That’s not right. Cookie must have a Big Bird coat she could share.

We love your fun and witty comments. They don’t appear right away, but we promise we’ll get to them.
