HTGAWM’s Viola Davis Up For A SAG Award

Viola Davis as Annalise Keating leaves court on HTGAWM.

The nominations for SAG’s 21st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards are in and Viola Davis is in the running for an award for her role of Annalise Keating on HTGAWM

That’s no surprise to us. The first time we saw Professor Keating, she swaggered into her classroom like like a tigress who just might eat her prey. Davis’ performance went beyond bluster. We also saw her be sexually confident, threatening and display dubious vulnerability. And that was only the first episode. Davis carries the show with her nuanced performance. We’re so glad to see her nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.

This isn’t Davis’ fist time at the SAG Awards. She won Outstanding Performance by a Leading Actor in a Leading Role for her performance as Abileen Clark in the 2011 film “The Help.”

Matt McGorry who plays Asher on HTGAWM.Another HTGAWM actor will be involved in the ceremonies. Matt McGorry (Asher) will be the 2015 Social Media Host. Through his personal Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts, McGorry will serve as the online face for the awards during the six weeks leading up to the ceremony. McGorry also plays Corrections Officer John Bennet on “Orange is the New Black.”

The Ceremony will be Simulcast Live on Sunday, January 25, 2015 on TNT and TBS at 8 p.m. (ET) / 5 p.m. (PT)
