To celebrate Sleepy Hollow’s Season 3 premiere on October 1, TV Recappers’ Delight is serving up a seven-day lovefest. Here are 33 tidbits Sleepyheads should know.
- The first Sleepy Hollow resident killed by the Headless Horseman as Jimmy Oglevie, owner of Fox Creek Stables.
- According to Katrina’s headstone, she was 32 at the time of her death.
- The leftenant says that the first time Ichabod called her Abbie was in “The Sin Eater” episode. (That’s what we were going with, but reader Cindy informs us that the first time was actually in the pilot and she was correct. Thanks, Cindy!)
- The shirts on Tarrytown Psychiatric patients reads TPI, but on Sheriff Reyes’ file it’s Tarrytown Psychiatric Hospital.
- The GPS app Waze gave users the option of hearing Tom Mison voice directions as Ichabod Crane, but it’s no longer available. (Maybe he was inspired by Yolanda.)
- Grace Dixon was married to Joseph, a pastor at Trinity Church.
- Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown, and Dobbs Ferry are the names of real neighboring villages in Westchester County, New York, where the show is set.
- In “The Midnight Ride,” Ichabod affectionately says: “Paul Revere, you rum beggar.” In “Bad Blood,” Mr. Crane called Ichabod the same thing.
- Actor Matt Barr, who played Nick Hawley, starred in a 2009 thirteen-episode whodunnit Harper’s Island. The main character’s name was Abby Mills.
- In real-life Dutch immigrant, Frederick s Philipse was the architect and financier of the Old Dutch Church. There is no Fredericks Manor in Sleepy Hollow, NY, but there is a Philipse Manor
- Tom Mison, is 6′ 1″ Nicole Beharie is 5’1″
- The Horseman of War, the Wendigo, Moloch, Sandman and the Scarecrow/Tree monster were all portrayed by actor Marti Matulis.
- At the time of Sleepy Hollow’s debut the real-life Sleepy Hollow had one black woman on the police force, Officer Wendy Yancey on the force. She was also the only woman on the force and got to meet Nicole Beharie at New York Comic Con in 2013.
- The real-life Village of Sleepy Hollow was originally incorporated as North Tarrytown but adopted the name Sleepy Hollow in 1996. The 2010 census report listed the population at under 10,00, not 144,00 as on the show.
- Abbie and Jenny were not the first to see Moloch in the woods. In 1882, a farmer reportedly saw the Moloch and the four white trees.
Contrary to what she said in Sin Eater, that was the third time Crane called her Abbie. The first time was in the pilot.
